C.R.E.A.M. Steps to Financial Literacy:
Meeting a total of 5 days, this workshop will teach participants about financial literacy, encourage necessary practices, and assist with achieving these goals. C.R.E.A.M. is hands on and interactive. Partakers will experience real life scenarios and best-practice strategies and solutions.
Through C.R.E.A.M., participants will learn how to understand and manage their money. At the end, participants will know how to be their own knowledge brokers and become more conscious about their financial health and propensities. C.R.E.A.M. will help individuals identify financial opportunities and provide a take-home platform to create long term financial success. C.R.E.A.M. will provide participants with confidence and skills to take basic steps and begin to look at their financial future in more diverse ways.
The workshop is structured around realistic practices. The philosophy is to see money as working capital and not as an end in itself. C.R.E.A.M. will allow people to see value in investing and the appeal of entrepreneurialism. From this workshop individuals will gain basic math skills, research tools, financial advisement and ways to evaluate financial options. At the workshop participants will be taught to draw the causal connection from their lifestyles to debt. They will also learn how "bad debt" eliminates options and can make the possibility of financial independence unattainable. Participants will engage in discussion about debt from societal perspective and understand how communities with such problems can become disenfranchised. At the end of this workshop participants will learn practical ways of becoming debt free, create action plans to attain financial literacy, and leave equipped with resources to help set and maintain financial goals.
