The BROTHER MALCOLM X LEGACY Scholarship

Operation Turn Around (OTA) is committed to helping students reach their academic and financial goals. Selected candidates will receive a $1,000 scholarship for the 2024–2025 academic year. High school seniors who are enrolling in an undergraduate degree program as well as current college freshmen, sophomores and juniors are encouraged to apply. The application deadline is 11:59 pm EST on Saturday, June 29, 2024.
Eligibility
- Applicant must be a Permanent Resident of the United States or a U.S. Citizen.
- Applicant must be enrolled, or enrolling, at an accredited U.S. college or university for the 2024–2025 academic year.
- Applicant must have completed community service with an organization, business or religious institution that is minority–owned and operated.
Required Documentation
- Completed application form (see below)
- Typed essay response (see below)
- Copy of your most recent academic transcript (official or unofficial)
- Two letters of recommendation (at least one from a teacher or guidance counselor)
- Documented record of community service with minority–owned organization
All documentation must be received by scholarship@otaworks.org before the posted deadline.
- Essay: In a typed essay to be submitted with this application, tell us in 2000 words or less what Brother Malcolm X would think of the current state of America.
